About the Conference

The HBS ETA Conference is the largest student-run gathering of the entrepreneurship through acquisition community. Each fall, nearly a thousand searchers, operators, investors, advisors, and MBA students come to Harvard Business School for a full day of panels, keynotes, and conversations on the questions that matter most in ETA: finding and evaluating a business, raising capital, closing a deal, and running the company after you buy it.

Now in its 12th year, the conference is organized by the HBS Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition Club and brings together people at every stage of the journey, from students weighing the path for the first time to CEOs several years into ownership. Whether you come for the content or the hallway conversations, the goal is the same: to connect the people who make this ecosystem work. Thank you for being an important part of the search fund community. We look forward to welcoming you to Boston!

Mitt Romney
Mitt Romney was the 2012 Republican nominee for President of the United States, served as Governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007, and represented Utah in the U.S. Senate from 2019 to 2025. In the Senate, Romney served on the Foreign Relations; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions committees. In 2020, he became the first senator in American history to vote to convict a president of his own party in an impeachment trial. He chose not to seek reelection and concluded his Senate service in January 2025. His career has spanned business, government, and national politics, giving him a distinctive perspective on leadership, presidential campaigns, public policy, and the challenges of translating private-sector experience into public service. Before entering politics, Romney co-founded Bain Capital in 1984 and served as its CEO and managing partner, helping build the firm into one of the country’s leading private investment firms. He later left the private sector to lead the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics, taking over at a time of financial and organizational crisis and helping deliver successful Games that finished with a financial surplus. In 2002, Romney was elected Governor of Massachusetts, where his administration worked with a Democratic-controlled legislature to enact landmark health care reform that significantly expanded health insurance coverage in the state. Romney currently serves as Chair of the Executive Committee of Solamere Capital. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and received both his JD and MBA from Harvard University. In 2026, Harvard Business School presented him with its Alumni Achievement Award, the School’s highest honor for alumni. In conversation with Bob White.
